France extend contract of head coach Didier Deschamps until 2018 World Cup

Les Bleus crashed out of the 2014 showpiece in the quarter-finals, but have been in impressive form as they prepare to host Euro 2016

Making a point: Deschamps has been rewarded with a new deal
France have extended the contract of head coach Didier Deschamps until the 2018 World Cup.
Deschamps led Les Bleus to the 2014 tournament in Brazil, scraping through their playoff with Ukraine.
They were beaten 1-0 in the last eight by Germany, who went on to lift the trophy.
The 46-year-old has been in charge of France since July 2012, when former boss Laurent Blanc stepped down.
They have beaten Spain, Portugal and Sweden since the end of the last World Cup, as they prepare to host Euro 2016.

It is a stretch of results which seems to have earned the former Marseille midfielder a new deal.
A statement from the French Football Federation read: “Following a proposal from president Noël Le Graët, the executive committee of the FFF has decided to extend the contract of France head coach Didier Deschamps until the next World Cup in 2018 in Russia.”
The French host Brazil and Denmark in their March friendlies, before travelling to Albania in June.
England will play host to Deschamps' outfit at Wembley on November 15.
