Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid Should Never Lose 4-0
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo feels that Saturday’s loss to Atletico Madrid was totally unacceptable and believes they should never lose 4-0 to anyone.
Los Blancos suffered an embarrassing 4-0 loss to city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon, which was the heaviest since their 5-0 loss to Barcelona three seasons ago.
Ronaldo admitted that the side played badly on the day, but felt there could be a lot of positives drawn from the loss.
“We played badly, right the way through the team,” he told AS.
“Nothing came off for us, it’s a day which we want to forget about as quickly as we can.
“Real Madrid shouldn’t lose 4-0 to any team, but I do see some positives even in this defeat. This will serve us well and we can learn from it.”
The Portuguese explained why he thought the side performed so badly on the day, but insisted that the reason couldn’t be used as an excuse.
“We weren’t fresh mentally or physically, that’s my opinion, but that shouldn’t be seen as an excuse,” Ronaldo added.
“The mistakes have been made and we can’t do anything to change that now.
“We have to lift our heads, there’s no point feeling sorry for ourselves as there are still a lot of games to get through and we’re first in the table.”
The loss has now left Real Madrid only one point ahead of Barcelona in the league table after 22 games played.
