Lionel Messi Will Always Regret World Cup Final Loss
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has revealed that he still has regrets about their World Cup final loss to Germany last year.
Argentina had an impressive World Cup campaign in Brazil and made it all the way to the final, but were beaten 1-0 by Germany, thanks to a Mario Gotze goal.
Messi, who had an interview with FIFA, watched the match over again, and shared his thoughts on the final - where he admitted he still has regrets.
"What can I say? It's a pity, we had so many good chances to win the game,” he toldFIFA.
"We had the better chances and we'll regret the chances we had but couldn't score for the rest of our lives."
Messi also said he was in touch with some of his Barcelona teammates during the tournament, but he doesn’t like to bother them too much when playing in such a big tournament.
“We were in touch, we used to talk. But in situations like that I don’t like to talk to them. I don’t want to bother,” he added.
”That’s the way I am in general, and I think it’s better to stay quiet in situations like that.”
The Argentine was named Player of the Tournament and ended the competition with four goals, two behind the Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez.
