5 Things You Didn’t know About Real Madrid Player Gareth Bale
Real Madrid record signing Gareth Bale has been criticised for his selfish play recently, and the Welshman has been selected as the next star in our 5 Things feature.
Bale joined Los Blancos for £85 million in 2014, but here are five facts that you may have not known about the 25-year-old.
1) Because he was obviously a cut above the rest in terms of his footballing skills, Bale’s school Physical Education teacher was forced to change the rules that only allowed him to use his weaker-foot and play one-touch.
2) In March 2013, Bale filed an application with the Intellectual Property Office to register a logo based on his famous "heart" goal celebration along with his squad number, 11, to be used on a range of clothing and footwear.
3) In his early days at Spurs, Bale played a record 24 Premier League games for the London-based club without winning.
4) At the young age of 14-years-old, Bale ran a 100 metre sprint in an 11.4 seconds. That is just marginally slower than Husain Bolt’s 9.58 second 100 metre sprint record.
5) Gareth Bale has won English Premier League’s Player of the Mmonth more times than his hero and fellow countryman, Ryan Giggs.
