The former Spurs boss is the bookies' favourites to take over at Loftus Road and could be in the stands on Saturday

Tim Sherwood edged a step closer to becoming QPR boss after his two potential rivals publicly ruled themselves out of the running.
And Sherwood could even be in the Loftus Road stands on Saturday to watch Rangers face Southampton ahead of taking over.
QPR have already held talks with out of work ex-Tottenham boss Sherwood who is being backed by Rangers’ new director of football and his close pal Les Ferdinand.
Owner Tony Fernandes was also keen to speak to Derby boss Steve McClaren and Real Madrid coach Paul Clement.
But both have now confirmed they are not interested in replacing Harry Redknapp, who resigned on Tuesday.

Ex-England boss McClaren, who was also linked with the Newcastle job last month, said: “I answered that (speculation) a few weeks ago, and it is the same answer now. Nothing changes and we move on quick.
“So let’s focus and concentrate on the job in hand which is trying to get Derby County into the Premier League.”
Clement, whose dad Dave played for QPR, said: “It would be a real honour to manage that club at some point in the future. But, at this time, I’ve got no intention of leaving Real Madrid mid season.”
Their withdrawals from the race to succeed Redknapp paves the way for Rangers to offer Sherwood the job and the 45 year-old to seal a return to management.
Vice-chairman Amit Bhatia admitted second-bottom QPR need to make a swift appointment to avoid leaving themselves “in a position of uncertainty.”
Though QPR insist they are sticking to their plan to let caretaker duo Chris Ramsey and Kevin Bond take charge of the Southampton game.
